Udani Perera is an articling student at MUNERA. Udani recently completed her JD degree at Queen’s University. Udani received her Honours B.A. in Law and Society at York University.
Udani supports lawyers and assists clients at MUNERA in different areas of law such as family, real estate and employment law. Udani also supports the firm’s corporate, immigration, estate planning and litigation practices. Udani has a particular interest in issues surrounding workers’ rights in Canada. Prior to joining MUNERA, Udani worked as an in-house summer law student for a global consumer goods manufacturer. She assisted senior legal counsel in corporate law matters involving statutory and regulatory compliance, and negotiating and drafting agreements. She played a central part in implementing an internal Agricultural Labor Practices Program that promotes safe and fair working conditions for farm workers. At law school, Udani was on the Dean’s Honour list, and selected to work with legal clinics providing legal assistance to low-income residents in different areas of law such as housing, employment, income support, criminal injuries compensation and small claims court matters. Through clinics, Udani had the opportunity to advocate on behalf of clients before the Landlord and Tenant Board, Social Benefits Tribunal, Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. She received two awards in recognition of her demonstrated interest in advocacy and public service. In her final year, she served as a member of the Queen’s Equity and Diversity Committee. Udani has past experience in retail management, business development, and community involvement in various organizations that serve needs and interests of disadvantaged communities in Toronto. Udani is fully bilingual in English and Sinhala. |
